Galvalume Steel Coil

Galvalume steel coil is based on cold-rolled steel strip as substrate, it is solidified of 55% aluminum, 43.4 zinc and 1.6% silicon solidi-filed at 600℃ high temperature and composition.

Indroduction

Galvalume steel coil is based on cold-rolled steel strip as substrate, it is solidified of 55% aluminum, 43.4 zinc and 1.6% silicon solidi-filed at 600℃ high temperature and composition. Prepainted galvalume steel coil combines durability, excellent heat resistance, and formability of aluminum, and those of zinc that offer high heat resistance and excellent corrosion protection, to form into this kind of dense crystalline quaternary alloy coated steel. The surface of the galvalume steel sheet is characterized by smooth, flat and gorgeous stars, and its base color is silver white.

Galvalume(Aluzinc) Steel Coil Process

The common manufacturing process is known as the hot-dipping process. Let's review step by step.

1. Pre-treatment: Through the pre-treatment system, the contaminants on the surface of the base metal will be removed. It often includes degreasing, rinsing, pickling, etc.

2. Hot-dip Galvalume Process: After going through the annealing furnace, steel sheets are dipped into the Al-Zn pool. Then there is an air knife to remove the extra coating to keep the thickness of the coating.

3. Inspection & Coiling

The coated steel sheet will go through the quality control system and then be rolled up for sale.

So the structure of Galvalume steel includes: Base metal (cold-rolled steel sheets)

The al-Zn coating layer (top and back sides)

Great Features of Galvalume Steel

● Excellent Corrosion Resistance

Similar to galvanized steel, the al-Zn coating will protect the base metal. Especially, when the zinc layer is worn, there will be a layer of dense alumina to prevent the base metal from further corrosion. It is proved that GL steel will serve 3 times longer than GI steel does. That's why GL steel is preferred in severe environments.

● Great Heat Resistance

Aluzinc steel has good heat resistance to withstand temperatures of more than 300 degrees Celsius, and it is often used in chimney pipes, oven illuminators, and lampshades.

●High Heat Reflectivity

The thermal reflectivity of GL is twice of galvanized steel so it is often used as a heat-insulating material. Therefore, it is a better choice for roofing in a hot climate.

● Beautiful Appearance

The surface of GL steel is smooth and with spangles, which makes it good-looking. So it can be used directly without painting.

Applications of Galvalume steel coils

●Construction Industry: roofs, interior, and exterior wall panels, soundproof walls, pipes, garages, and modular houses, pipe , tool shed etc.

●Automobile Industry: buckets, muffler, exhaust pipe, wiper attachment, fuel tank, truck box, etc.

●Home appliances: washing machine, refrigerator back panels, gas stoves, air conditioners, electronic microwave ovens, LCD frames, CRT explosion-proof belts, LED backlights, electrical cabinets, etc.

●Agricultural: like pig houses, chicken houses, granaries, greenhouse pipes, etc.

●Others: hot section insulation cover, heat exchanger, dryer, water heater, etc.

Customized Service

●Cut galvalume coil into strip: we can cut it to your requested width

●Cut galvalume coil into flat steel sheet, cut it into steel sheets to the required size.In order to save loading costs the cargo is loaded into a 20-foot container through the container, so the length is usually shortened to less than 5800mm, widths according to your request.

FAQ

►Galvalume Sheet coil is a Good Roofing Material?

Definitely, yes. GL sheet is light in weight but strong enough, which is a new kind of roofing material. Also, due to its high thermal reflectivity, GL roofing sheet is preferred in hot climates. Moreover, it has a gorgeous and smooth appearance so it is widely used in commercial, civil, and public buildings.

►Which Is Better Galvanized or Galvalume Steel?

As for corrosion resistance, galvalume is better than galvanized steel. GI and GL steel are very similar. Both of them are coated to protect the base metal from rust. The coating allows metal panels to last decades longer than non-coated metal. Essentially, GL steel is 55% aluminum to 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon alloy coated sheet steel. While GI is coated with a zinc layer. Al-Zn coating combines the toughness of zinc with the rust resistance of aluminum and provides barrier protection on the metal surface. It performs better in fighting corrosion than zinc coating. However, if the zinc coating is scratched, it can continue to corrode. So the service life of GL steel will be longer than that of GI steel. Also, GL steel has better heat resistance so that it is more suitable for home appliances.

However, in terms of the price, the galvalume sheet price will be higher than that of galvanized sheet.

►Galvalume vs Galvanized Steel Price

Generally speaking, galvalume steel will be more expensive. For example, for the same specification, AZ50 galvalume steel will be more expensive than Z50 galvanized coils. But GL steel also has a longer service life. Moreover, the price is also influenced by other factors, such as the thickness, width, packaging, etc. And they are suitable for different environments. ►Does Galvalume Metal Rust?

Galvalume steel has strong corrosion resistance. But galvalume steel is actually a kind of iron steel. So it will rust finally when the protective coating is broken. It often rusts from the cut edge. Because the galvalume coating is made with less zinc, the anodic protection is poor. When a certain point of the GL sheet is corroded, the rusted area will spread over the entire surface.

►Can You Paint Galvalume Steel?

Of course. The galvalume coating has great adhesion, which makes it easy to paint. You can paint it with different colors for decorative or aesthetic purposes, like PPGL (Prepainted Galvalume Steel coil)

Galvalume steel coil is a kind of superior material, especially for roofing and wall system. It is also ideally suitable for furniture, home appliances, automobile industry. Thanks to its wide applications and good workability, the galvalume coil is great to invest. As one of the professional galvalume steel coil suppliers, Jinbowantong Steel has galvalume steel coils in stock and also the year production can reach up to 100, 000 tons to shorten the delivery period. While for end users, you can choose plain or corrugated galvalume sheets of different sizes and designs.
